What You Can Do When God Doesn't Give You What You Want

Have you ever prayed for something and got nothing? Been frustrated because as hard as you prayed and asked God, there is still nothing? What do you when God doesn’t give you what you want?

Evaluate Yourself

Evaluate your intentions and what you are asking for. Many times, we fail to see that what we are asking for is not something that is aligned with the will of God or His word. Another thing to evaluate is how your relationship with God is? Do you only spend time asking for things instead of enjoying a relationship with Him? Do you spend time in His word, searching and learning what His promises are for you or you just ask because you want it?Look at yourself and sincerely ask God to reveal the desire of what you are asking. I put that question out there about knowing God because if you did know Him, you would understand what He wants for your life. God is a good God. He loves us more than anyone in this world. He gave His life for you.  The more you get to know God the more you will understand that He does want the best for you. You understand that He does hear you when you call. But He also knows what is best for you and sometimes His answer to your prayer is either no or wait. Believe it or not, at times you can be holding your blessing.

Give Him Praise

One thing I have learned is that even in the storm, even when I am not getting what I want, God is still worthy to be praised. Stop focusing and what He didn’t give you and look back see what God has done for you already and praise Him! In 2 Samuel 12, we see the story of David and one prayer that went unanswered for David. He fasted and lay down on the floor praying for the child he had with Bathsheba to live. The baby died, and the first thing that David did was wash his face get ready and wait for it! He went to the House of God to Worship!David understood that God was still God and worthy to be praised. Sometimes things will not work out as we wanted, but in all, God still reigns. He still wants the best for you, but also acknowledge that doesn’t mean that everything in your life will be perfect. He promised that through it all He will be present with us.(Matthew 28:20) When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, He forgives us and gives a new life. A new way to live. See we didn’t deserve that in the first place. We sometimes act as if that was insignificant. I believe our perspective should change. God forgave all of our sins and gave us eternal life. The only thing He requires is for us to share what He has done in our life. That should be enough for us. If He denies something for you, you shouldn’t throw a tantrum but say God I love you if that was not meant for me or it wasn't your will then it's okay; you are still my Savior.

Put Him First

This world has shown us that we are entitled to things because of the things we do and who we are. But the kicker is that we are not from this world, and we shouldn’t conform to it. God knows what you need better than you do. He will give it to you. I am not saying that we will not have to suffer, but He promises to help us through it. I want to leave you with one scripture that is the answer to everything when it comes to asking. If you do this, then believe me everything you need and want will come to you.

But put God’s kingdom first. Do what he wants you to do. Then all those things will also be given to you. So don’t worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:33-34 NIRV

Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes Matthew 6:34 MSG
