There Is Freedom in Forgiveness
There is Such Freedom in Forgiveness
Freedom in Surrender
Freedom in Trusting God in ALL things
Freedom in “Being Still” in God’s Presence
Freedom in allowing God to do a Great Work in you
Freedom in allowing God to Shatter every glass wall
Freedom in Grieving in and with God
Freedom in Releasing yourself and others from Emotional Bondage
Freedom in Transparency
Freedom in Accepting the Higher Call of God in Christ Jesus
Freedom, Freedom, Freedom. Full of God’s love and Freedom!
I initially wrote this poem with the word "peace" in place of the word "freedom"; then I realized you could not have peace in any aspect of life without freedom. Freedom and peace go hand and hand. Without freedom, there is no peace. And without peace, there is no freedom. It is imperative to have peace and freedom in God to forgive individuals daily.
What the Bible Says About Forgiveness
In Proverbs, it says, "A person's wisdom yields patience; it is to one's glory to overlook an offense." Proverbs 19:11 NIV This translates to a wise person who will forgive those who have hurt them and choose not to stay bound by unforgiveness and bitterness will be blessed. Unforgiveness in your heart leads to eternal condemnation. Yes, unforgiveness in your heart leads to eternal condemnation. In Matthew, it says, "For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins." Matthew 6:14-15 NIV When this scripture was broken down to me in bible study, and I gained full understanding, I decided to forgive. Holding unforgiveness in my heart was not worth NOT going to heaven over. I did not want to miss out and want to see Jesus in heaven while walking on those streets of gold. If that means I had to forgive those who offended and hurt me most, I will do it! I made it up in my mind that I am not missing out on heaven’s beauty and eternal glory for no one.
How to Walk in Daily Forgiveness
Walking in daily forgiveness is a choice. What I have learned is to choose to forgive people who have offended or hurt me daily. God revealed to me specific individuals I held captive in my heart due to unforgiveness and said, "Daughter, you must forgive them and continue to forgive daily to be reconciled with me." I say this time and time again, life is all about choices, and I chose to forgive. Of course, God tends to cause me to go the extra mile in this Faith Walk. He instructed me to reach out to a specific person I chose to forgive and tell this individual that I have released them from the bondage of unforgiveness I carried in my heart. And I did! Not only was I able to release this person from my bondage of unforgiveness, God felt it necessary to reconcile our friendship. God's freedom through forgiveness and reconciliation is a wonderful thing to experience when it is God's will. God can and will do a great work through our obedience to forgive and will release freedom, peace, and reconciliation as a result according to His purpose.
An effective forgiveness exercise I use to help me walk in freedom through forgiveness is I remind myself daily to forgive. I have written FORGIVE on my bathroom mirror with a dry erase marker. Every morning and every night, I look at what I have written on the mirror as a reminder to forgive daily. It is a liberating experience to be free from an unforgiving heart. There is such freedom in forgiveness God's way! I encourage you to walk in daily freedom through forgiveness.
