The Shoe Of The Future

We have officially arrived in the future. And we didn’t even have to drive 88mph to get there. The great Elon Musk has created a car that can drive itself. There is a toothbrush that transmits data to your cellphone that gives you feedback telling you where you need to improve on your brushing. Nike has been a leader in the shoe world for a long time. And now they want to share what their idea of the future is.

It all started on October 21, 2015, which is the exact date that Marty McFly visited the future in the movie Back To The Future II. Nike created a one of a kind self-lacing shoe, which was a complete replica of the shoe that Marty wore in the movie. Well, Nike is taking that technology, and cranking it up a notch, or ten. The design team at Nike had one thing in mind, make the shoes like a butterfly. A butterfly goes through its life cycle, constantly adapting and changing. They brought this idea to life with the Nike Adapt BB.

Who could have imagined that we would someday be able to lace our shoes using an app on our smartphones? Well, not only did Nike imagine this crazy idea, but they made this idea a possibility. Nike created the Adapt BB. The Nike Adapt BB is a power lacing shoe that has the ability to not only lace itself but is fully customizable from an app on your smartphone. What started out as high tech, one of a kind basketball shoe, has turned into a shoe that everybody wants to wear, basketball player or not.

Nike Adapt BB Features

Step into a shoe that not only laces at the touch of a button but is fully customizable. You can download the Nike Adapt app, pair it with your shoes and fine-tune not only the fit of the shoes but the design of them as well. The Nike Adapt can switch between multiple customizable presets of your choosing.

If you want the shoes to be loose, then you can create a setting where your shoes will be a bit looser on your feet. If you’re ready to play a basketball game or go to the gym, then you can push another button on your phone, and the shoes will tighten right up. The shoes have a very small engine inside the midsole of the shoe. This engine pulls the laces tighter at the touch of a button.

The Nike Adapt BB shoe paired with the app on your cellphone allows you to change the colors of the lights that are on the sole of the shoe. If you have a red shirt on, boom, you can make the lights of the shoe red. Green shirt, wait for it, you guessed it, the lights will be green. There are many different colors you can choose from using the Nike app.

The Battery In The Shoe

Nike’s shoe of the future has a powerful battery that will hold a charge for up to 2 weeks. Even if you wear the shoes every single day. That is definitely better than all of the cellphone batteries that we use today. Not only does this awesome shoe have an amazing battery life, but it only takes 4 hours to charge it to 100%.

Charging the Adapt BB couldn’t be any easier. All you have to do to charge the shoes is to place them on the power mat. The lights will let you know when your shoe is fully charged. However, if the battery happens to die while you are still wearing the shoe, there is no need to panic because you won’t be trapped in the shoes. You shouldn’t be jumping off of the high dive or taking these shoes surfing with you. However, they are waterproof. So you can walk around in the rain or walk through puddles if you have to and the shoes will be safe.

Well, we all have officially arrived in the future, and we didn’t need a Flux Capacitor to get there. We just needed a little help from Nike. They truly have created an amazing shoe, and I can’t imagine what they are going to come up with next. The Nike Adapt BB is available for purchase now, but they will set you back about $400. The self-lacing shoes are available in either black or grey. If you are curious about seeing the shoe in action, there are a lot of YouTube videos on the web you can check out. They will show you everything this amazing shoe has to offer. If you are a fan of shoes or just a fan of some awesome technology, you definitely are going to want to grab a pair of these.
