Summer TV Shows: What You Should Watch

Summer TV Shows: What You Should Watch

Summer 2017 is finally here. With that comes great weather, bonfires, barbecues and, of course, must-see TV. The movies aren't the only place that heats up during this prime time of the year, and here are some suggestions on shows you can't miss out on:

Game of Thrones on HBO (July 16th at 9 pm)

Here comes the highly-anticipated seventh season of one of the most well-received shows to exist. Game of Thrones is a phenomenon in and of itself, but the fact that this is the second to last season ups the ante. The great war is upon Westeros at last, and we all can't wait to see how it unfolds, for better or worse.

American Gods on Starz (Running now; Sundays at 9 pm on Starz)

An adaptation of the Neil Gaiman book of the same name, this show is a menagerie of the mythos. A show wherein each and every god of almost any lore you can think of is real and living among us, and it is a true delight. Throw in Gaiman's brilliant storytelling and developer Bryan Fuller's gripping visual style. This one should be on your list.

Marvel's "The Defenders" (Streaming on Netflix as of August 18th)

After creating four standalone series of superheroes living in New York (and acknowledging that they all live and work among one another), this Netflix series will serve as an answer to The Avengers, albeit with a darker tone. Combining the heroes from the Netflix series: Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Daredevil, the vigilantism and the New York attitude will certainly be upped in this one. Just try to forgive them for the Iron Fist blunder and look to what's ahead.

Orange is the New Black (Streaming on Netflix as of June 9th)

Netflix's beloved series following an inmate at an all women's prison picks up for its fifth season. This new season promises fast-pacing and intensity, taking place during only a few days and following a rather unexpected death. With a gun pointed at a rather abusive guard at the end of the previous, that cliffhanger will, at last, be solved for us.Overall, summer is a time in which we love to be outside. After not being able to shake off this previous winter, who could blame us? However, this is also a time to enjoy relaxation and some well-deserved time off. Why not fill it with some of the shows we know and love? Beware of bingeing, however, as these shows take time to update. Happy watching!
