Order: A Trait Every Christian Should Have
As Christians, we should aspire to be more like Jesus. Order is one thing that we see as part of Jesus and God’s character. I believe that order is a trait every Christian should have.
The Importance of Order
When God created the universe, he didn’t just do it all in one day neither did He do it out of order. He did not create man before there was a place for him and something to have dominion over. That is our first glimpse at the God we serve. He took time and everything was done in order. Another example of this is when Paul speaks to the church in Corinth regarding utilizing the gifts of the Spirit.
1 Corinthians 14:40 ESVBut all things should be done decently and in order.
He didn’t want the church to be disorganized but wanted them to follow the protocol. Not to be all speaking at once or all speaking in tongues at the same time. There needed to be an order established so the church could be edified. Furthermore, God’s example and what we see in the Bible and Jesus time on earth was never chaotic or in disorder. In fact, let’s look at this Scripture:
God started and saw that it was shapeless and chaotic. Then he started placing things in order. The opposite of order is disorganization and disagreement. That is everything God is not.
Order & Organization
Have you ever paid attention to a pastor or speaker that is all over the place? You just don’t know what they are saying because it’s all so muddled and messy that it just doesn’t make sense! See as Christian we can’t give the impression that we are all imbalanced and disorganized. There should come a point in our lives that we spend so much time with God we will start to act like him.A lot of people don’t like this topic because they think they are perfectly fine the way they are. Order is a trait every believer should possess. We can’t profess that we believe in a God that is organized and we are disorganized. We can’t say God is peaceful God and we are not peaceful. It just doesn’t add up. When we come to Christ we are such a mess, I know I was! But the more I spent time reading the Scriptures and hearing the word of God I started to change.I didn’t want my life to be all messed up anymore. I wanted to have my time set up to spend time with God and to learn more. I desired to be prepared and to be ready at any moment. In Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 says:
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:2 a time to be born, and a time to die;a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;3 a time to kill, and a time to heal;a time to break down, and a time to build up;4 a time to weep, and a time to laugh;a time to mourn, and a time to dance;5 a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;6 a time to seek, and a time to lose;a time to keep, and a time to cast away;7 a time to tear, and a time to sew;a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;8 a time to love, and a time to hate;a time for war, and a time for peace.
Everything has a time. I was being too lazy and complacent. Thinking I had all the time in the world to clean and organize. That was not important. But our houses and the things we have reflect the kind of people we are.
Organizing Your Life
My mom always used to say that we can be poor people but never will anyone complain that we are dirty or disorganized. That is true. When everything is in order it causes less stress. It creates a welcoming atmosphere. Is inviting and denotes responsibility. When we take care of what we have we can be entrusted with more. One thing I remember when I decided to organize my closet was the dread that I felt when I started. I didn’t want to do it! There was so much stuff! But I had put all those things there. The same way we deal with things in our lives. God is interested in every area of your life. He wants to clean it and set you straight so you can be fruitful and live in the fullness of God.I pushed on through and got rid of things I didn’t even know I had that I didn’t need. When we organize we are faced with the junk we have accumulated. Things we don’t need. My house is more efficient and is easier for me to find things because now they have a proper place. I know if anyone needs to go to my house they will be able to find things because is organized. Organize not only your home but also your spiritual life. Do you have some areas that you have closed off to God? I assure you once you do your life will be less stressful and you will be lighter.
