How to Use Your Faith At Work
Alright, using your faith at work might not sound too easy, but I assure you that it is. You will be surprised at what God says regarding this issue. We can apply the Word to almost anything today, and it still fits. That is one reason the Bible is so helpful. I hope you’re reading the Word daily. It helps! Let’s delve into why using your faith at work is a breeze.
In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets. Matthew 7:12 NIV.
The Golden Rule we learned in Kindergarten still applies to us grown-ups. God wants us to be able to care for others regardless of who they are. This means even a cranky boss. Your behavior at work should set you apart from the others, even to the point that co-workers call you the “religious one.” It’s okay, wouldn’t you rather be called that than some other condemning word? This is the first way to use your faith at work.In the Old Testament, we find Jacob working hard labor, just for the love of Rachel. He worked to be able to have her as his wife. He worked a total of fourteen years to gain Rachel as his wife.
And Jacob did seven years' work for Rachel; and because of his love for her it seemed to him only a very little time. Genesis 29:20 NIV.
This example shows us how we should work. We should love the Lord and our families so much that we work hard and show them our love by taking care of them. Adam was told to work the land as soon as he lost Eden. God set an example for the rest of Adam’s descendants. Working is part of the human life, and we should understand it in the Biblical sense. Even the 12 Apostles worked as they preached, so they didn’t put a burden on the Churches. The last way we can use our faith at work is more of a mindset than anything. Stay humble and don’t go for the prize if you have to step on someone else’s toes to get there. There is no need to fear financial woes because if you are right with the Lord, He will see to all of your needs.
As you know, we did not come with flattering words or with a scheme to make money. God is our witness! 1 Thess. 2:5 ISV
Consider these ways to use your faith at work, and start working like God is your boss. He is.
