This iPhone X Competitor Might Save You a Lot of Money
Almost everyone in the tech world and beyond was blown away on September 12, when Apple announced the New iPhone - iPhone X. After a long, boring, expected Apple presentation, the iPhone X reveal stole the show. However, to enjoy the stunning 5.8”edge-to-edge OLED screen, Face ID, and funny animojis, customers are looking to pay a lot of money. We’re talking $999 for 64GB and $1,149 for 256GB. With carriers, it isn't any better. Telecommunication companies are charging $42 a month in the U.S. That’s why we’re bringing you an iPhone X cheap alternative.I, like many people, love the iPhone design and software. However, Apple and Samsung are not the only top smartphone sellers in the market; there’s another competitor. The Chinese, Xiaomi.
Chinese entrepreneur Lei Jun founded the internet company, Xiaomi in 2010 based on the vision “innovation for everyone.” The company believes that high-quality products with cutting-edge technology should be accessible to everyone. They desire to create remarkable hardware, software, and Internet services for and with the help of Mi fans. They incorporate clients feedback into the product range, which currently includes Mi and Redmi smartphones, Mi TVs and set-top boxes, Mi routers, and Mi Ecosystem products including smart home products, wearables, and other accessories. With a presence in over 30 countries and regions, Xiaomi is expanding its footprint across the world to become a global brand.
A 5.99" Edge-To-Edge Screen
Xiaomi premiered their Mi Mix 2 iPhone on September 12, 2017. The same day in which Apple announced their iPhone X. In fact, it was even before the presentation held in the Steve Jobs Theatre by Apple.Mi Mix 2 weighs 185 g. It has a ceramic build. Granted you can do a lot with an Octa-core CPU and Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 chip. The screen is IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a corning gorilla glass 4 protection, and it’s 5.99 inches. This is indeed bigger than the iPhone X screen.Cameras are 12 MP at the back and 5 MP on the bottom front. To unlock the phone, clients will use the fingerprint sensor in the back. The Battery is 3400 mAh. And last but not least, Xiaomi's Mi Mix 2 has a 3.5mm headphone jack. Finally, the phone is expected to be released on September 27 and cost $570 when it drops in the Asian market.
Why Haven’t We Heard of Xiaomi Yet?
The answer is simple. Saturation in North American and European market is the reason why Xiaomi isn't widely spread. But why can't they expand? Their answer is, "we’re not in a rush." Xiaomi's founders admit that they are not a hardware company, they are an Internet company, and this may be one of the reasons why they’re not worried about competing with Apple in the U.S market. Personally, I was an iPhone user for years until I switched to a Xiaomi phone because I couldn’t fathom the thought of spending so much money on a smartphone. I own a Xiamoi Redmi A4 in Rose Gold. It is not a top of the line Xiaomi phone by all means. But the software is beautiful, customizable and I have everything I need in a smartphone. Besides, Xiaomi products are stunning.
