Finding Happiness After Losing A Loved One
Everyone will have to experience the passing of a loved one. Death is inevitable. When you lose someone, it feels like your heart is crumbling into a million pieces. Sometimes, it feels like the air in your lungs is nonexistent, and the pain in your chest is for eternity. You feel lonesome, hurt, guilty, selfish, and helpless all at one time. It is a wretched type of pain. However, like any tunnel, there is always a light at the end. The painful emotions you are trying to cope with right now are not forever. You can find happiness again; in fact, you will.
Remember Earth is a Temporary Home
At the moment, it can feel like you will be separated from your loved ones forever. Little things will remind you of them like the smell of freshly cut grass or the sound of brewing coffee. In those moments, the pain will swiftly work its way into your mind and make you believe their absence is permanent. However, the big, spinning rock we are currently living on is just a temporary home; heaven is our ultimate goal. Your loved ones are just gone for a little while. A few years is nothing compared to the eternity you will have with your family member or friend in paradise. They are patiently waiting for you up above. Remembering you will see them again, can help lessen the aching pain that seems to flow through every vein.
Know They are Free of Pain
Leaving worldly pain behind is a gift that death offers. If your loved ones were sick, physically or mentally, they are relieved of that pain. They are no longer suffering, which can be extraordinarily comforting. Along with this, they are free of all emotional pain as well. Stress, sorrow, unhappiness, and anxiety; they are all gone. Your loved ones are free. Reminding yourself that they are no longer in any pain can be a great relief in this painful time.
Recognize the Signs They Send You
When you lose family members or friends, the worst feeling is knowing they are gone. Their earthly presence is missing, and no moment ever feels the same. However, they are only physically gone. Loved ones’ spirits can live on in your heart and memories, but their spiritual presence is also still existent. Even in death, your loved ones are still very much alive. Believe me, those in heaven can send signs to you. The signs can mean that they are okay, thinking of you or missing you. Only you will be able to decipher the message your loved one is sending you. The important point to remember is that in these instances nothing is a coincidence. Do not doubt the signs you receive, because they are indeed manifestations from above. If your loved one’s favorite song comes on the radio when you are having a bad day, it is a sign. If he/she loved butterflies and one flies by you while you're thinking of him/her, it is a sign. Your loved one is speaking to you and listening can bring you the greatest comfort in this heartbreaking period of your life.
Turn to Your Family
In this tragic time, others are also mourning the death of your loved one. Siblings, aunts, uncles, and other friends are also facing one of the hardest life experiences they have ever endured. Turning to family and friends is tremendously important and beneficial. They can provide comfort to you, but you can also support them and grant them a newfound sense of hope. When you feel lost in this world without your loved one, remember that your other family members and friends are also searching for comfort. When you turn to family and friends, all of you can be each other’s map to happiness.
Realize It Never Gets Easier
Candidly, it never gets easier; you just get better at living life without them. Ultimately, a piece of you will always be missing. There is nothing you can do to fill that void. At every party or family gathering, someone will be absent. Every day, you will want to talk to them just one more time, but you will learn. You will learn how to cook, sleep, clean, and continue without them. The throbbing pain that seemed unbearable will slowly stop throbbing and become less painful. This is not because you forget about them, but because you are accepting what has happened. Acceptance is the only way to move past this difficult time. When you accept that they are gone from Earth, you will be able to start truly living again. However, their memory and love will never be far from your heart or mind. There will always be hard days, but eventually, you will find happiness again.
