Back-to School Makeup Essentials
Experimenting with makeup is fun. But most times, you just want to walk out the door to catch your morning class. The secret to a quick makeup routine is to have a small makeup bag or a makeup holder. There, you can put all your makeup essentials for those days you don’t have time to look for stuff. Another secret is to have a good basic skincare routine. Which includes, lip balm, sunscreen, moisturizer and eye cream. So to celebrate Back-to School season, here are my favorite out-the-door makeup essentials:
My all-time favorite concealer is Mac’s Pro Longwear Concealer. I hardly ever use foundation anymore. It really does the job right (Mac; $23). L'oreal True Match Super-Blendable Concealer is not bad either (Walmart; 7.79$). It’s just slightly powdery - not great if you’re having an extra dry skin day. However, if you want to use a foundation- go a head. I recommend Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation. It has a wide range of colors to choose from, and it sells for $5.94 at Walmart.
A simple palette with neutral colors can save you a lot of time. I personally use the Urban Decay Naked 2 for the days where I’m running late, but I do not recommend it! Why? It retails for $54! It’s really amazing that Urban Decay hasn't reduced the price yet. I think you can get something similar in the market or even better for a lower price. For example, Smashbox’s Cover Shot: Eye Palettes in Matte is only $29 at Sephora. Elf carries a matte eyeshadow palette. It has great reviews, and it costs $10! on Walmart and Elf.com.
My all-time favorite mascara is Tarte’s Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara (Sephora; $23). I love it because it makes your lashes appear longer and more voluminous without looking unnatural. Besides, it never smudges or flakes. Don’t you hate when that happens? If you’re looking for a drug store mascara, Maybelline Volum' Express The Colossal Washable Mascara in brown is a great choice (Walmart; $9.98).
A neutral color is guaranteed to work best in any weather situation and with any outfit. Mac Cosmetics creamsheen finish lipstick in Fanfare is one of my favorite colors (Mac; $17.50). Likewise, you could go for Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Natural Moisturizing Soft Shine Lipstick in Copper Pink (Make Up For Ever; $11). If you don’t want to break the bank, try L'oreal’s lip balm in Lovely Mocha 200 (Walmart; $4.20). They are natural-looking and easy to apply. You really don't need to spend a lot of money buying high-end makeup to look great. There's a lot of great drug store products out there that are worth the purchase.
