There is just something undeniably comforting about the smell of coffee. It awakens your senses and can turn a person from the Grinch who Stole Christmas into a jolly citizen who says hello to every stranger that passes by. Because people typically drink coffee first thing in the morning, it can signify the start of a new beginning—even any time of the day! Not to mention a lot of coffee shops are cozy and comforting. Grab a cup of joe and relax.
If you’re a big fan of nature, this spot is for you. There is something serene about going to the beach, laying a towel down on the sand, and sprawling out to soak up the sun. With beautiful waves crashing against the shore, happy beach-goers and lively nature surrounding you, how could you not feel better? The beach is the classic spot for unwinding. I find that taking a notepad out to the beach and writing down my thoughts always helps me relax and refocus. If you’re not in the mood to write anything down, sit back and close your eyes as you listen to the waves. Structure your breathing with the motion of the waves. Stepping outside of yourself and focusing on nature is a surefire way to reestablish your tranquility.

The doors are always open at church. No matter how you look or feel, you can always take yourself to God for some soul cleansing. It can be so relaxing to sit in the pews and just meditate on the Lord’s word. Sometimes you don’t even have to pray. Just being there should be enough to lift your spirit. If you see someone else alone in the church, join hands with them in prayer. You never know who else could use a friend.
