Why You Should Embrace Your Singleness

Speaking from much experience, being single while other close friends and relatives are in a relationship can be a real downer. However, it doesn’t have to be! Singleness is a blessing in disguise, and here are a few reasons why:

You Get To Focus On & Spoil Yourself

Alone time doesn’t equate loneliness. Being single allows you the time to discover what it is you want most and how to achieve it. Furthermore, it gives you the green light to splurge on yourself. Whether it’s ordering dessert, picking out new clothes, or getting a massage, you have free roam. Treat yourself wonderfully–you know what you like better than anyone else!

You Can Invest More In Friendships

Singleness gives you time to really catch up with your friends. While it’s not impossible to be in a relationship and still keep in touch with everyone, it’s still much easier by comparison when you are single. Take this time to rekindle things with your friends and you’ll come to see that platonic relationships are every bit as wonderful as romantic ones.

You Don’t Have To Deal With Nearly As Much Drama

No relationship is perfect, romantic or otherwise. Everything involves some kind of hard work in order for it to be worthwhile and that sometimes leads to fighting. However, being single means that you don’t have as many compromises that you’ll have to make on a regular basis. You can make your own rules.

You Get To Mingle All You Want

Play the field, as they say! Being single is an opportunistic way to find what you might or might not be looking for and the best way to do this is by trying different things with different people. This can really help in the long-run for future romantic endeavors–you’ll get straight to the point!

You Might Just Find That You Prefer Being Single

Relationships aren’t something that everyone wants, and that’s perfectly okay. Being single for awhile might help you realize that longterm relationships aren’t your cup of tea after all. There is never any shame in loving yourself first and foremost.

Singleness is nothing to look down upon; embrace it! Use this time to explore yourself and others, if you so choose. Don’t let romcoms shame you into feeling inadequate or worthless; you are spectacular and you will find love on your own terms and in your own time.
