Can you believe it’s almost 2017? In less than a day, we’ll be ringing in the New Year! What are you most looking forward to in 2017? One of the things I am looking forward to in the new year is the return of my favorite TV shows. Some are returning for another season and others are picking up where they left off in December. Unfortunately, there will also be some fan favorites that will be returning and ending all in 2017. Let’s take a look at the top 10 TV shows returning (and ending) in 2017!
Hawaii Five-O: January 6th, 2017
A lot has happened to our beloved Ohana this season, and I had so many emotions on the mid-season finale earlier this month. The team is gearing up for Christmas and celebrating Chin Ho Kelly’s birthday. They also find themselves going head to head with the Mexican drug cartel after its leader kidnaps Chin’s niece, Sarah. When we last saw our favorite crime fighters, Sarah had been rescued, but Chin sacrificed himself in order to save her, which left many loyal fans and viewers wondering: Is Chin Ho Kelly still alive? Tune in to CBS on January 6th to find out!
Pretty Little Liars – The Final Season: April 2017
Who else agrees with me that Season 7 was explosive and revealing? I was literally on the edge of my seat the entire first half of Season 7, and I still have so many unanswered questions! Spencer Hasting is Mary Drake’s other daughter, which officially makes her part of the DiLaurentis family. But who is this UberA or emoji A? Could it be Alison’s psychotic ex-husband who is not only a doctor but also the former love interest for CeeCee? Please Marlene I. King, put us out of our misery once and for all!
Once Upon A Time: March 2017
When we last left Storybrooke, Emma had been sent back to the Enchanted Forest with no memory of her life as the Savior. David became the master of the Genie Aladdin and sent Regina to save her. Snow is still under the sleeping curse cast upon her by the Evil Queen. The biggest reveal of the mid-season finale? The hooded figure in Emma’s vision who kills her, is none other than Belle and Rumplestiltskin’s son, Morpheus. When Morpheus appears in Storybrooke, Emma and Regina are still trapped in the Enchanted Forest, thanks to Regina’s momentary distraction upon seeing the dead Robin Hood suddenly full of life. Will Emma make it back to Storybrooke to save her family from Morpheus? Will this be the end of the Savior?
The Vampire Diaries – The Final Season: January 13, 2017
It is the eighth and final season of The Vampire Diaries, and I know I will need a box of tissues when that final episode airs. In the mid-season finale, it was a classic Salvatore brothers moment: Stefan and Damon together in that beautiful blue Mustang, heading out onto the open road. Their mission? To serve the Devil himself, Cade. How will our beloved vampires meet their end when it’s all over? Will Elena return and save the Salvatore brothers? Will Caroline get to be with her children? What about Bonnie and Enzo? However the series ends, I know we’ll need tissues!
Nashville: January 5th, 2017
While I’ve never been a huge fan of Nashville, there were cries of outrage a few years ago when it was on the list of TV shows to be permanently taken off the air and has since then become increasingly popular among viewers since it was switched to CMT (Country Music Television). It appears as though when we last left our talented country stars, Juliette was involved in a deadly plan crash, leaving everyone asking: is she going to survive when the series picks back up on January 5th?
Scandal: January 19th, 2017
Who doesn’t love a salacious affair between the top Miss Fix It and the President himself? I made it through three seasons binge watching on Netflix, but haven’t watched it sense. However, it’s not Thursday night without a good Scandal! When we last left the infamous Olivia Pope, she was anxiously awaiting the announcement of the Presidential running mates while glorious Cyrus debates on whether to spill the information he’s obtained.
How To Get Away with Murder: January 19th, 2017
Does anyone else feel as though this show’s had its run? I started watching it when it first premiered and while I thought it was good, I wasn’t exactly taken with it. When we last left Annalise and the gang, it was revealed that (spoiler alert) Wes Gibbons was the victim under the white sheet! When the series picks back up on the 19th, questions will be answered.
The Walking Dead
While a premiere date hasn’t been set for the infamous zombie apocalypse show that has captured thousands of viewers all over, it’s clear that the Walking Dead has a strong fan base…except for that little incident where Neegan kills off some of our viewers most favorite and beloved characters. I’ve never been a huge fan of the show because zombies aren’t really my thing. Will the show return with the new year? Stay tuned to find out!
The Bachelor: January 2nd, 2017
Reality TV. As we ring in the New Year, it’s time for another season of The Bachelor. This year’s handsome man looking for love? Nick Viall. He’s ready to try to find love again after getting his heart handed to him previously..four times, to be exact. Who will he choose this time? And will she say yes?
Grey’s Anatomy: January 19th, 2017
Following Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder on Thursday night, everyone’s favorite medical drama returns for a thirteenth season on January 19th. The season kicks off with a character favorite, Alex Karev, spending some time in jail after fighting with another doctor.
What shows are you looking forward to in the new year?
