Every morning that we are blessed to arise, we are in pursuit of something. Pursuit of our careers, children, marriages, money, fame, fortune, success and/or spirituality. Every day we “do” life. We go through the same monotonous routine each day without question. But are you really living your life? Sure, you have breath in your body but are you really “living your life like it’s golden” like the American songwriter and singer Jill Scott would say. Are you living your life to the full or are you just full of doing life as you know it?
Think about this for a moment. What are you passionate about? Do you know what your purpose is? God has given each of us a purpose for existing on this earth and the passion to pursue it. By definition, purpose is the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists. This is powerful because out of all the human beings that God could have created, he saw fit to create you. That’s awesome news people.
Jeremiah 29:11 says
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
This means you were created with purpose in mind. News flash folks, you do not exist just to pay bills, work, have children, get married, buy a house, and/or die. Life is so much more than this!
Do you remember as a kid you had dreams and goals that you wanted to accomplish when you grew up? What happened to your dreams and goals? Somewhere along in life, you stopped dreaming because life happened to you. Maybe you had a baby at a young age, a loved one unexpectedly passed away, your high profile career folded, you went through a terrible divorce, or you suffered from a long term sickness. Whatever the case is, you allowed your dreams to become choked by your circumstances.
It is time now to figure out what your purpose is and pursue it with a passion. I challenge you to answer these following questions over the few days:
- What sets your soul on fire?
- What excites and stirs you?
- What are your gifts and talents?
Dig really deep inside yourself to answers these questions. What you will find is your purpose in life and the passion to pursue it. Dare to live your life out loud and on purpose. As the late great international bestselling author, life coach, and leadership mentor Myles Munroe said, “The greatest tragedy is not death, but a life without a purpose.”
Here’s to purpose and passion!
