Pulling Off Berry Lipstick

Tis the Berry Merry Season! This is my favorite time of the year! The holiday season is always a time for me to celebrate and enjoy time with family and friends. As we approach the holidays, you may be planning a fabulous Thanksgiving dinner or thinking about attending an elegant office holiday party or perhaps you purchased tickets to a New Year’s Eve party. As you think about about your holiday plans, think about one of the hottest trends in the beauty industry right now: Berry lipstick!

Wondering how to pull off this great beauty trend? Here are some helpful hints and terrific tips to rock this look:

1) You need to first identify your undertones.

According to the September 2015 issue of Cosmopolitan , “An easy way to see if you have cool or warm undertones is to ask yourself if you think silver or gold jewelry suits you best. If gold makes your skin look brighter, then it’s likely you have warm, yellow undertones; whereas if silver makes you look fresher, you probably have cool, pink undertones. If you can wear both, you’re neutral. If you have pink undertones, you should wear berry lipsticks that have blue undertones such as deep plum, wines and oxblood berry shades. If you have yellow undertones, you should wear berry lipsticks that have orange undertones such as burgundy, deep red and maroon berry shades.”

2) You need to exfoliate your lips and use a great lip liner.

According to the October 2014 article entitled “15 Hacks, Tips & Tricks on How to Wear Berry Lipstick Like a Pro” on Gurl.com, “When wearing berry lipstick, make sure you exfoliate and use lip liner before applying.” I love using an awesome product called Satin Lips. Treat your lips to the ultimate two-step system that gently exfoliates and moisturizes your lips. Satin Lips® Lip Mask effectively exfoliates dead surface skin cells. Satin Lips® Lip Balm moisturizes lips for at least six hours. Use a lip liner that goes on smoothly and evenly for a perfect outline every time!

3) Add a highlighter around your lips to help keep the lip color in check and make them pop!

4) Use a lip primer before applying and blot after applying the lipstick.
