People that are in the entertainment industry always struggle with having their lives exposed to the world. Everything from their latest role or music video to their latest breakup is exposed to the media. In this day in time, the media is notorious for prying into celebrities private lives.
They enjoy capitalizing on any scandal, rumor, or gossip that surrounds them. All media outlets are set out to report on negative news way more than anything positive. Rather than just focusing on how well celebrities are doing with their careers and knowing where to draw a limit. It’s true that celebrities have their careers exposed to the world, yet should their private lives be off limits?
Should Celebrities Have A Choice to Protect Their Private Life?
There has always been a debate on whether or not celebrities have a right to not discuss their private life. There are a lot of mixed opinions on the subject. Some people think just because celebrities’ lives are exposed doesn’t mean their private lives are. Others believe that it’s the cost of fame and they don’t have a choice but to expose their private lives. It’s hard to draw a line between what the media should and shouldn’t expose when it comes to celebrities.
The reason why is because some celebrities are okay with exposing their private life. The Kardashians are one of the best celebrities that are very open about everything including their privacy. They expose their lives to reality shows, so it’s really unlikely for them to want a lot of privacy. Celebrities open to disclosing their private life should be prepared to talk about it to the media. However, there should be a level of respect the media has and the celebrity should have a choice.
Celebrities That Protect Their Private Lives
Whereas celebrities like Beyoncé, Oprah Winfrey, Eva Mendes, Ryan Gosling, Kerry Washington among many others are very private. These celebrities use the media to promote their career, but ensure the media knows they don’t discuss their private lives. Beyoncé is among one of the biggest celebrities in the world. Yet she made it clear early in her career that her private life was off limits. In 2003 when she was a guest on Oprah Winfrey’s talk show, Oprah gave her some great advice. She told her to not discuss her private life because then her interviews would never be about her career. Beyoncé and Jay Z both are very private about their marriage and only give the media a glimpse into it. Celebrities are private because they know if any scandal were to break out the media would not give them privacy.
Imagine how the media would’ve questioned Jay Z and Beyoncé when that infamous elevator video was released. If they were open about their marriage the media would ask relentless questions. They wouldn’t be able to go anywhere or do anything let alone an interview without being questioned about it. Especially, Solange, she would’ve been bombarded with tons of questions about what her and Jay Z were fighting about. The best thing to remember when it comes to celebrities and their personal life is that they are human like everyone else. Just because they are in the public eye doesn’t mean they don’t need their privacy like everyone else.
