No-Shave November

November is one of my favorite months out of the year for several reasons: I was born on this month, Thanksgiving, it’s one month away from December (Christmas!), and of course No-Shave November. I have a weakness for a man with a beard; always had and always will. This is the month where men forgo touch, grooming, and shaving their beard for the entire month.

Though it’s nice to see all the men bearded up a lot of people may not know the reason why it is called No-Shave November. The purpose of this month long commitment is to bring awareness to cancer and to help raise funds to support cancer prevention, research, and education.

According to No-Shave November website the concept of this month long journey is:

To grow awareness by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow wild and free. Donate the money you typically spend on shaving and grooming to educate about cancer prevention, save lives, and aid those fighting the battle.

How do you get involved and what are the rules?

It’s real simple, grow out your beard, let your legs go natural, and forgo your waxing appointment. Yes, you read that correctly; this is not only limited to men. Women, if you’re up for the challenge don’t let this no shaving your beard journey be limited to men just because you can’t grow your own. Now I know this isn’t for all woman or men, but I give huge props for the ones who do participate in this great cause. The rules are simple:

Put down your razor for 30 days and donate your monthly hair-maintenance expenses to the cause. Strict dress-code at work? Don’t worry about it! We encourage participation of any kind; grooming and trimming are perfectly acceptable. Strict dress-code at work? Don’t worry about it!
