Got milk? This popular milk campaign has made its way to hundreds of advertisements, billboards, and even magazine flyers. Dozens of celebrities and models dress in their finest clothes and flaunt their finest makeup with a milk residue mustache on their top lip. Who would have thought the consumption of milk would be America’s most responsive element?
Today on January 11th, we celebrate National Milk Day. It is the day that milk started being delivered in sterilized bottles. Milk is a white liquid that mammals create in their mammary glands in order to feed their young ones. Milk contains great nutrients that our body needs to sustain such as calcium, protein, potassium and Vitamin D. There are even many different types of milk such as whole milk, skim milk, chocolate milk, coconut milk, almond milk, and lactose-free milk.
Of course, popular items like butter, cheese, yogurt, and ice cream all contain milk. However, there are a lot of surprising foods that contain milk that many people are unfamiliar with. Did you know that salad dressing, potato chips, tomato sauce, Nutella, boxed fish sticks, and all beef hot dogs all contain milk? With all of the different products that contain milk and all of the different types of milk, you may be consuming more milk than you realize!
I have taken the time in honor of National Milk Day to share with you a few appetizing recipes that include milk. Try them out and let us know how they turn out.
