Kingdom Corner: Fruits of the Holy Spirit

This week begins our three week series on the Holy Spirit. This week we will be focusing on the fruits of the Holy Spirit. The power of God resides in all of us and offers to completely change our lives and our outlook as Christians. After Baptism, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within and begins the process of renewal of the soul and heart.

God’s Promises

Jesus Christ promised his Apostles that after He left them that another would be coming to strengthen them. A Baptism by Fire, because fire is refining.

In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Acts 2:17 NIV.

God made good on his promise on the Day of Pentecost as tongues of fire settled on his Apostles and a great crowd numbering over three thousand were saved. So how do you know if you have the Holy Spirit dwelling strongly within you?

Fruits of the Spirit

The Holy Spirit comes to make your life better and transform you from the inside out. Imagine living a life full of overwhelming love, compassion and hope. This is exactly what the Holy Spirit brings. The Spirit’s qualities are peace, love, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. Slowly over time as you pray and beckon the Spirit to come into your heart you will find that these qualities begin to manifest in your spirit. You will begin to see life as Christ sees it. Your life will blossom into one of beauty and contentedness. As you go about your week, meditate on the qualities of the Holy Spirit, and pray daily for the Holy Spirit to transform you into a Christ centered believer.

Proof of the Holy Spirit

Beyond the wonderful qualities that settle in your life there are other signs of the Spirit dwelling within you. The first is that you will be able to boldly proclaim your faith to others. You will become like one of the first Apostles.  Discerning right from wrong will be easier. You will find it easier to say no to the situations that would lead you farther from Christ. Spending time with God’s people will become a delight. The Spirit draws those who love the Lord together. You will find that your life is transformed right before your eyes.

The Spirit is very powerful. Pray today that the Spirit will come and makes its dwelling within you, and strengthen your faith. Let your journey begin!
