With Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s all coming up, you might already be thinking about hosting a holiday party. And parties have the tendency to be stressful. So here are a few helpful tips for your holiday party.
Make A List
Creating a list of all that needs to be done for your holiday party will help relieve stress. It will help you stay focused, and forces you to plan ahead. Writing a list of tasks and needed items will hopefully eliminate the risk of forgetting something! Something else a list allows you to do is designate tasks to guests. This kills two birds with one stone; involving your guests in the planning makes them feel included and it takes tasks off your plate.
Try to do any prep work ahead of time to relieve stress. There are a variety of dishes that can be made before the day of the party and frozen to save time. Then on the day of, all you have to do is thaw those dishes and spend more time on the things that could not be done in advance.
During the weeks leading up to your party, be sure to stock up on little snacks like nuts, crackers, and cookies. You might want to consider getting cheese cubes too. These types of snacks are crowd pleasers! It’s also helpful to have them while waiting for the main meal.
Keep Drinks On Hand
Similar to stocking up on snacks, be sure to have plenty of drinks available to keep your guests’ thirst quenched all night long. Since it’s the holidays be sure to provide your guests with hot cocoa, apple cider, as well as coffee and tea.
Deck The Halls
You have to decorate your house all Christmas-y! Your guests should walk into your home and instantly feel the magic of the season. Some suggestions include: filling bowls with vintage ornaments, glass bowls filled with white Christmas lights, or put a bare branch in a vase with small ornaments on it. Be sure to decorate the outside of your home too!
