Your Guide To Award Season


It’s the beginning of 2017 and the best time of year is upon us. No, I’m not talking about tax season, but that’s a close second. I’m talking about the glitz and the glam of Hollywood’s award season! All of the best movies, TV shows and music performers are lined up and judged for their performances. When an award nominated movie or actor you love wins, somehow you feel as if you’ve won too. It’s even better when you can watch the award given the day it airs on television. Grab the popcorn and a cozy blanket, here’s your guide to this year’s award season.

SAG Awards

The 23rd Screen Actors Guild Award will air on January 29th at 8 pm on TNT and TBS. This ceremony will honor actors and actresses in film and television with 13 different award categories. Here’s a look at who’s nominated this year.

Outstanding Performance by a Female in a Leading Role nominees are Amy Adams for Arrival, Emily Blunt for The Girl on the Train, Emma Stone for La La Land, and Meryl Streep for Florence Foster Jenkins. 

Outstanding Performance by a Male in a Leading Role nominees are Casey Affleck for Manchester by the Sea, Andrew Garfield for Hacksaw Ridge, Ryan Gosling for La La Land, Viggo Mortensen for Captain Fantastic, and Denzel Washington for Fences.

Grammy Awards

The 59th Annual Grammy Awards will air on February 12th at 8 pm on CBS. The Grammy Awards focus on outstanding vocal and musical performances. Here’s a look at a couple of this year’s nominees.

Record of the Year nominees are Adele for Hello, Beyonce for Formation, Lukas Graham for 7 Years, Rihanna for Work, and Twenty One Pilots for Stressed Out.

Song of the Year nominees include Hello sung by Adele, Formation sung by Beyonce, I Took a Pill in Ibiza sung by Mike Posner, Love Yourself sung by Justin Bieber, and 7 Years sung by Lukas Graham.

The 89th Annual Oscars ceremony will air on February 26th on ABC. The host this year is late night talk show host, Jimmy Kimmel. The Oscar nominees will be announced on January 24th. Keep an eye on The Oscars homepage for your first look at this year’s nominations.

iHeartRadio Music Awards

The iHeartRadio Music Awards will air on March 5th at 8 pm on TBS, TNT, and TruTV. This award show will focus on the best artists, performances, and songs of 2016.

Nominees for Best Female Artist include Adele, Ariana Grande, Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Sia.

Best Male Artist nominations are Drake, Justin Bieber, Luke Bryan, Shawn Mendes, The Weeknd
