How Getting Over Your Fears Brings You Closer to God

Anthony Delanoix

Have you ever been afraid of something and felt like you were less connected to God? That’s because when you have fear, it weakens your faith in yourself and especially your faith in God. The best way to feel more connected to God is to have one hundred percent faith in Him. God doesn’t want us to worry or fear anything because it doesn’t help. If you don’t have any faith in God, then He cannot answer your prayers or bless you. Here is how getting over your fears brings you closer to God.

God will never instill fear in you; whatever you’re afraid of God will show you that there’s nothing to fear, and encourage you to face them. Strengthening your faith in God by facing your fears and showing God that all you fear is Him. In the Bible, there’s a quote in Matthew 10:28 about fear. “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” God is the one to fear because He is the most powerful in the universe. Psalms 112:1 says, “Praise the Lord. Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands. This verse means that God blesses those who place all their fear in Him and honor and obey His commandments.

Getting over your fear shows Satan that you trust and believe in God. Satan wants you to be afraid because fear makes him feel superior and makes you feel defenseless. By overcoming fear it will allow God to bless you, and you will feel more connected to Him than ever before.

Deuteronomy 31: 6 says “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Fear is an illusion because it isn’t real. You are bigger than fear, and God is bigger than you and fear. In the words of John Kennedy “The only thing to fear is fear itself.”
