Sometimes styling your hair can be such a pain. Trying to come up with the perfect style that is not only functional but will last all day? It can be a nightmare, especially when your hair just refuses to cooperate. That’s why braids are almost always my go to style in a pinch or when you are having the worst hair day of your life. Braids are easy, simple, and beautiful. They are also timeless and classic, and work for hair of every texture and length. Check out some of these fun, simple braids you can do with long, medium or short hair!
The Classic Braid (3 Strand Side Braid)
This is what I call the ‘classic’ braid. It’s a simple, over the shoulder or down the back braid that anyone can do. It’s also perfect for those days when you’re running late or just don’t feel like styling your hair. For those of you who don’t know how to do a simple braid or are unsure, check out this simple tutorial here.
*Note: the hairdresser in this video refers to braiding as plaiting but it’s the same thing!
The Fishtail Braid
This one found its niche a few years ago. We’ve seen it on celebrities such as Selena Gomez, Nina Dobrev, Blake Lively, Rihanna, etc. and it looks absolutely beautiful. It looks rather complicated at first, but once you get the hang of it, it’s really easy to do. Check out the tutorial here. It works with any length here as well!
Elsa’s “Frozen” Braid
One of my favorite braids of all time. This braid became huge after the release of Disney’s “Frozen” and we saw Elsa’s long, beautiful braid. It’s better if you have semi long hair to do this braid, but it can be done with short hair as well and looks just as amazing! Check out the tutorial here!
Braided Top Knot
For those of us who love wearing our hair in a bun on days when we literally just can’t, this is a twist on a modern classic. Check it out here.
Plaited Messy Low Bun
This hairstyle works great for any environment. Another take on the classic bun, and it works for any environment such as work, school, dates, and so on. It looks casual but still stylish. This hairstyle is great for those who have short to medium length hair. Check out the tutorial here!
