Though it may be difficult to connect with others at times, there are many advantages to being an old soul. Your perceptions, maturity, and wisdom are beyond your years, which makes you a unique individual. Here are some ways that being an old soul is advantageous:
You Make Time for Yourself
You prioritize yourself. “Me” time is most important, and it should be. Being comfortable with yourself is a necessity, whether others realize it or not. You have realized it and you set aside time from friends and obligations to unwind. Some may see it as you being antisocial, but you understand the value of “me” time.
You Are Very Observational
You consider things before jumping headfirst. This is a good way to avoid rash decisions and prevents fewer regrets in your life. You can also read people very well, which is why you’re a good friend. People feel like they can trust you and come to you for advice. You see things for what they are and you tell it like it is.
You Know What You Want
Your goals are important to you and you know (at least somewhat) how you’re going to achieve them. You don’t let anything or anyone get in the way of what matters. This is also good for relationships, both romantic and non. You won’t waste your time on anyone who doesn’t click with you, and so all of your relationships are close and meaningful.
You Accept Change
This goes hand-in-hand with knowing what you want. You understand that in order to get to where you want to be in life, certain things have to be switched around. While change frightens others, you can roll with it. You know that it’s just a part of a bigger picture.
Being an old soul is something that’s positive and interesting. While everyone around you is acting differently, you stand your ground. You stay true to who you are, you know what you want, and you understand how to get there. Embrace this side of yourself; it’s truly a wonderful thing to be.
