The Academy Awards: The Nominations

Photo: Mama Loves Designs

This morning at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, actor John Krasinski, Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs, and filmmakers Guillermo del Toro and Ang Lee announced the nominations for the 88th Academy Awards. For cinephiles like me, this day is huge. It puts the end to speculation and officially kicks off the Road to the Oscars. It gives you the performances to watch out for and narrows down the best films of the year to a competitive list. It celebrates film and all of the talented people who are involved in creating magic on the silver screen. The Oscars are only a few weeks away, and I for one am excited for Hollywood’s biggest night as the stars gather and we reflect on how movies made it possible for us to all dream in gold.
